Amalgam is the name
that dentists give to silver fillings. Actually silver fillings are a number
of different metals, silver being the predominant metal. These metals are
mixed with mercury which forms a soft plastic mixture that is placed into
a tooth and then becomes hard. For more than 100 years, billions of dental
amalgam filling have been used to restore decayed teeth. Dental Amalgam
has been proven superior in terms of durability and cost-effectiveness.
Yet, misconceptions about amalgam still exist.
The A.D.A. has issued a New Release related
to the safety of Amalgam Fillings.
