A new denture requires
an adjustment period whether this is your first denture or just a new denture.
With a new denture there is a period of adjustment requred. You need to learn how to eat, speak, and keep your lower denture in place. This will all take time. It is recommended that you don't leave the dental office and plan on a steak dinner. Start with softer foods, taking small bites, and progress to foods that are more difficult to eat. It will also take time to learn to speak clearly with your new denture and also requires practice. It is perfectly normal to have sore spots that will require adjustment by the dentist. It is also important to clean your denture completely once per day to prevent infections and to keep your breath clean and fresh.
