    DIAGNOSTIC TESTS

  • NUMEROUS TYPES OF X-RAYS AND OTHER TESTS SUCH AS BLOOD TESTS WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION TO EVALUATE YOUR TREATMENT PLAN.
  • PANOGRAPHIC X-RAYS......PROVIDES A VIEW OF YOUR ENTIRE MOUTH, LOCATION OF SINUSES, NERVES AND INDICATES ANY BONE PROBLEMS.
  • CEPHALOMETRIC X-RAYS......PROVIDES SIDE IMAGES OF THE HEIGHT OF YOUR JAW AND WHETHER YOUR JAWS COME TOGETHER PROPERLY.
  • COMPUTERIZED TOMOGRAPHY X-RAYS (CT SCAN).....PROVIDES CROSS- SECTIONAL AND OTHER VIEWS THAT MEASURE YOUR PRECISE JAW HEIGHT, WIDTH AND BONE DENSITY.
  • BLOOD TESTS......AN ONGOING MEDICAL CONDITION SUCH AS DIABETES, WILL DETERMINE IF YOUR CONDITION IS UNDER CONTROL.
  • SPECIAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES

  • IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT YOUR MOUTH IS NOT IDEAL FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS, OTHER PROCEDURES MAY BE SUGGESTED.
  • BONE GRAFT......BONE GRAFTING MAY INCREASE THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH OF YOUR JAW IF IT IS TOO SMALL. IT IS POSSIBLE TO TAKE BONE FROM OTHER AREAS OF YOUR JAW OR HIP. AFTER THE NEW BONE IS PACKED AROUND YOUR JAW, THE GUM IS CLOSED AND THE NEW BONE BEGINS FUSING WITH YOUR JAW.
  • TISSUE REGENERATION......AN ARTIFICIAL MEMBRANE MAY BE PLACED ALONG THE BONE EDGE TO PROMOTE PROPER HEALING AFTER THE BONE GRAFT. THIS MEMBRANE GIVES THE NEW BONE TIME TO FUSE WITH THE JAW BONE WHILE SLOWING SOFT TISSUE GROWTH.
  • RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS

THERE ARE POSSIBLE RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS AS THERE ARE WITH ANY SURGICAL PROCEDURES. THESE INCLUDE:

  • BLEEDING
